MARGINAL DIFFERENCE IN THE LEVEL OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY OF LEARNERS IN TURKEY

Abstract

English language is among one of main languages spoken in Turkey.Turkey is a multi-cultural and multi-lingual society, but English language can be considered as the language of elites in this country.The level of English language proficiency in Turkey is different and the learners study under two education systems including the Turkey education system and Cambridge education system . The author of this research investigated the main features of these two systems and the reasons of high proficiency of students in Cambridge based education system has been studied closer. The research method was interview of students in these two education system and concluded that the syllabus, knowledge of teacher and education method play main role in obtaining the proficiency in English language.
